Early Childhood Education
This is Us!
In the left picture, It is a picture of my instructor Ms.Chilton and I. I also have another instructor named Mz.Ghindia . With the help of both of them, I have gained so much knowledge about Early Childhood. I thank them from the bottom of my heart for always being there for me, and guiding me in the right direction.
Educator’s Rising 2018-2019 President
I had the amazing opportunity to run for Educators Rising President my junior year, and I won! Educator’s Rising is a professional organization that supports students who are interested in education related careeers. I won the election to be President, and some of my duties involve making agendas for meetings, helping with competition in Columbus, being a great role model, and organizing events .
My backbone
I have had such a blessing to be able to work with these beautiful girls the past two years of my life. Without them, we wouldn’t of made a team. We always take our ideas and put them together for the children have the best learning experience here at TCTC preschool.
Preschool
In the preschool, we teach ages 3-5 our senior year. We teach the children a lot of fine-motor skills involving their small finger muscles, and gross(large) muscles. These pictures show just a few of the many activities that help them engage process of building all of their strong muscles.
My Senior Teach Day
Senior Teach Day was my final exam in Early Childhood. It is a day where I had to run the preschool all by myself. To prepare, I had to create lesson plans, provide example work, plan activities in all school subjects, create and prepare a snack, and make two bulliten boards and name tags for all children. The pictures show me teaching the class how to mix two primary colors to make one secondary color by mixing 2 different colored vinegar jars and baking soda to create a fizz explosion that became a secondary color.
In this activity, I taught the children that birds build nests out of things they find in nature. I placed a bin of random supplies and asked them to “build a nest” just like a real bird would.
Learning about birds.
In theory class, we had to show and explain the growth and development from fertilization to birth. These are the pictures and the video that I used in my project.
In the preschool, we give the children equal opportunities to be “head teacher”. What that means, is that the children are on a steady daily schedule that they know. The job as the head teacher is to help guide the rest of the students independently and show the rest of the class what to do.
In theory class, we had make a baby mobile. I chose to make this pink one with chopsticks, yarn, gems, glittery stars, cottonballs, and decorative lace. It is very catchy to a child’s eye, and soft to the touch.
In this activity, the children had different shapes inside of a container of shaving cream and paint. The goal was to “swim” for a shape and tell me what shape it is and how many sides it has. They have fun making a mess and learning about shapes!
In theory class, we had to teach each other about the different types of development for children and before birth. I had to teach about physical and cognitive development. These are my sources that I used to teach the class.
Junior Christmas party
Below in the first picture, I was helping the children open Secret Santa Christmas gifts that the students brought each other. The second picture shows me preparing the children’s snack table.
We had to chose a topic and make a slideshow about safety involving children. I chose toy safety because a lot of people do not take a lot of things in consideration when choosing a toy for a child.
This is another safety presentation about food safety because children love food, but serving it happy and healthy is the right way to eat!
The Slideshow below is my presentation on the Physical Development of School Aged Children
